After weeks of deliberation, fighting with Truenas Scale, and finally settling with a hosted option (for now), I'd like to announce the creation of a new Mastodon server: thefantasy.pub

Pull up a stool and grab a tankard! thefantasy.pub is a server dedicated to all things fantasy. Whether you're a fan of epic novels, sprawling RPGs, blockbuster films, or creator-owned comics, you've found your pub!

This is a place to share your passions, discover new worlds, and connect with fellow adventurers who love the thrill of magic, the clash of steel, and the call of the unknown.

Server Operation

The Fantasy Pub is operated by J.R. Warden. To ensure the lights stay on and the ale keeps flowing, the server is professionally managed and hosted by Masto.host, who provides reliable uptime, daily backups, and ongoing maintenance. This lets Junior focus on the community without worrying about the technical minutiae.

Funding the Pub

Currently, the server is funded entirely out of pocket by the admin. If the community grows and costs increase, the admin will make it possible for voluntary contributions to help cover the hosting fees. For now, just your presence and participation are more than enough!

The Fediverse

If you're new to Mastodon, welcome! Remember that this server is part of a larger network called the "Fediverse". You can follow and interact with people on thousands of other servers, not just this one. Your "Local" timeline shows posts from people on thefantasy.pub, while the "Federated" timeline shows posts from everyone that our server knows about across the wider realm.
